What is SPICE?
Before knowing about PSpice we've to know what's SPICE. SPICE is a powerful general purpose analog and mixed-mode circuit simulator. This is used to verify circuit designs and to predict the circuit's behavior in real life.
PSpice:
PSpice is a PC version of SPICE [ Available from the OrCAD Corp. ] . A Student version(which has some limitations) comes with various textbooks.
PSpice can do several types of circuit analysis. Some important ones are given below:
- DC circuit Analysis and Kirchhoff's Laws
- AC circuit Analysis
- Transient Circuits and Laplace Transforms
- Transfer Functions and System Parameters
- Series and Parallel-tuned Resonance
- Semiconductor devices and Characteristics
- Operational Amplifier Characteristics
I think this is enough for now. I'll post more about PSpice in the next post with the procedure how to plot circuits on it and Simulation ofcourse!
Till then have a nice time :)
